Friends

It's sad when a friendship goes kaput, but sometimes it's just gotta happen. That's one of the life lessons I learned in college (along with unlimited beer and wings doesn't mean you have to and if you have to sneak around to have the relationship, it's not much of a relationship), that in the end it's just better to let the person go instead of beating the thing into the ground. Of course, it does leave me wanting to say a few choice words to the person, but restraint is good, just let it be, and be sad, but only as long as it takes to call up your real friends and remind yourself what friendship should be. Or something.

Sorry, deleted your last comment as don't want to cause issues by naming names, but yes to what you said. It's not casting too big of a shadow, just kind of sad. Saw the individual for the first time in almost a month at a mutual friends:

Person "Hey, how are you doing?"
Me "Fine"

Spent the evening talking to different people, then as person was leaving:

Person "I'll give you a call"
Me "sure, see ya."

What conversationalists. Based on past history odds are about 99.9999% sure that I will not be receiving that phone call and part of me knows that I shouldn't care anymore, but part of me does. It's that whole lack of closure thing. If we're going to be friends act like it, if not, let's admit it.

Anyway, I know what you mean about just wanting to know what's going on and getting it over with (as I'm sure you know). It's kinda like a wise Texan said, "why do you still go out as a group if you're really not a group anymore?" Either way it still sucks - sorry. :o(
