Waking up on a beautiful Sunday morning with a migraine does not make for a happy [livejournal.com profile] taerowyn. My aunt had mentioned keeping a headache journal to find out if there's any discernable pattern to my migraines...think I'm going to give it a go. Thankfully, there's good OTC medicine that actually works for me (unlike my uncle, who apparently has to get shots...eep!), so now I'm feeling about 80% ok...still a little woozy.

I feel your pain. I go through migraine seasons, and I'm never sure what's the cause, or what makes them dry up. What OTC med works for you? I take naproxen (Aleve), which is the one medication (OTC or otherwise) that I heard doesn't create rebound headaches. So if you're taking something different, you might consider the possibility of that reaction and try the Aleve.

I went to a headache specialist in Spokane during a 5-month period where my head always hurt, and thought I'd get some cool new meds, but instead he took me off everything for 3 months. Bleah. And now I take the Aleve, and if I get it in me right when I get the first glimmer of an aura, I'm usually in very good shape.

I hope you get some relief, those are awful!

I take Excedrin Migraine. Seems to work (though if I've already had anything else with caffeine earlier in the day, I get a wee bit jittery). Haven't noticed any rebound headaches from it, but I'll keep Aleve in mind if I do. Thanks!

These days, in addition to Excedrin, i take a decongestant. Really does the job for me.
