Nov. 11th, 2002 10:27 amSo I made a rather large purchase this weekend and once I got the debit card receipt to sign I noticed that something that was on sale, didn't ring up as such. Only $14, but still. So she voided the previous transaction and ran it up again at the same price. She said that either, a) the voided transaction wouldn't show up or b) it would show up and a couple days later a refund would occur.
So, checking my bank statement online today and I got charged for the purchase three times. The orginal/voided purchase, the real purchase with the accurate price and then one more, I don't know, just for the heck of it. I figure I'll give it 'til Friday to clear up. The only problem is that the lady was so sure things would be OK she gave me no record of the voided purchase. If there's a problem all I'll be able to do is take in my bank statement and my receipt and keep my fingers crossed that they'll believe me. Stupid computers/credit cards/banks/stores/whatever! Here's hoping the accurate refunds occur before I get to that point

Date: 2002-11-12 09:41 am (UTC)What's actually going on is that the "real" sale has cleared, thus showing up as an entry on my balance sheet. The other two sales are kind of phantoms. The amount for them is missing from my "available balance" but they haven't cleared yet to show up on my "actual balance." Make sense? That's why I think it will end up working out, the computers are just confused right now so it works best for them to say the money is spent until the figure things out...or something like that.
