We had a nice big trail of ants leading to the trash can in the snack room so, after eliminating the target (trash bag taken to dumpster), eliminating the ants (vacuum), I am now testing my hypothesis as to whether I can eliminate/confuse the chemical trail by spraying some lemon Pledge along the path they were following. We'll see if they come back.
My skin itches, psychological ants everywhere. Yech!

Date: 2002-08-14 10:07 am (UTC)Quit experimenting and buy yourself a big can of Ant & Roach Spray. A couple weeks of spraying my kitchen's ant paths and the big gaps in the baseboards has eliminated my ant problem entirely.
It's somewhat poisonous, so wash it off food preparation surfaces before you do any cooking.

Date: 2002-08-14 02:20 pm (UTC)The other day I left my phone at home next to some chocolate that got left out (sheer laziness on my part). It was there for a night.
The next day I get in to work (phone in pocket) and put the phone down on my desk to go to a 15 minute meeting. When I got back from the meeting, my phone was surrounded by tiny little ants.
"Gross!!" I thought as I took my phone from those buggers and killed 'em.
A little bit later I notice ants around where I put my phone next. They weren't there before, and I had never seen ants at my desk before.
"What the fuck is this?" I wonder as I pick up my phone and examine it. As I'm doing that, a couple ants crawl out of it. OUT OF IT!
The fuckers had swarmed into my phone. I would guess that my little phone (and a Nokia 8260 is a little phone (4" x 1.5" x .75") had been infested by nearly 50 little red ants.
Cleaned up at home, got all the ants out of my phone, but that still grosses me out. Kill 'em all mercilessly, for me.
