I've been waffling back and forth on whether or not to get a digital SLR camera body, but finally decided to go for it. I got my Nikon N80 (film) camera as a college graduation gift along with two lens (a basic 28-80mm and then a good zoom: 70-300mm). I also have a small point and shoot digital (Nikon Coolpix). While I love the utility of the SLR, I was using the coolpix more and more since I didn't have to bother with film, drop off for development etc.

Now I have both SLR utility and digital ease!

Since the D80 is discontinued, I've been keeping a watch on craigslist for somebody to upgrade to the D90 or similar and then need to sell their D80 (I liked the look of a new D60, but the autofocus on my lens wouldn't work with it, so no). Finally found one for about 3/4 of the cost of an Adorama refurbished one (my last resort if need be). I've only had it for a few hours, but so far am happy.

The big thing was I wanted something before my July trip to Puerto Rico. Having it in advance of my mom's visit (less than two weeks!) is actually ideal as that will give me a good excuse to put it through it's paces.

Anyway, if you follow me on Flickr and or Facebook, be expecting a lot more photo updates as I use the new camera and the nice weather as an excuse to play...

Was considering selling my N80 body, but I think I'll keep it. Every once in awhile I sign up for a photoclass and/or darkroom time so it'll be good to have that on hand should I so desire. Besides, looking around, I'd probably get <$100 for it so might as well hold on to it.
