So the target of Fred Phelps' latest protest (the God Hates Fags dickhead) has a brilliant counter-protest. Instead of having an actual counter protest, they're having a Phelps-a-thon, where the longer his group protests, the more donations pour in to what they're protesting.

Brilliant.

You know you want to make a pledge.

The owners of the Aut Bar in Ann Arbor did that a few years ago when Phelps was expected in town. He set it up like a walk-a-thon, where people pledged X dollars for every time Phelps said or did something while in town (can't remember the conditions). I believe he raised a nice amount of money for AIDS research or somesuch.

Yeah, the more I read, the more it's not so much "come up with" but "is using." Still, love the concept.

I used to get racist mailings from a rich Aryan Nations guy when I lived in Idaho. After I sent a postcard saying I'd donated to the Human Rights Task Force in response, I never got another mailing!
