Not the work situation, unfortunately, but my mood has certainly improved. How you ask? Simple, I have plane tickets!! I will be in PA (and maybe LI for a bit) the second week of May. And there was MUCH rejoicing.
I have to tell you both. I was in Southampton all weekend helping them ploverize (no birds yet). It was very, very wierd being back. I spent the first day really feeling bad about having ever left... going by places I used to, seeing the myriad houses that I used to live in, etc. By that evening, I was ready to walk into a real estate agent's office and beg for a year round rental.
The second day, however, I was in the truck talking to my replacement and giving him all the dirt on his (formerly my) projects and the people involved, and I kept apologizing because I was putting them down. This guy is a crook, that project is a failure waiting to happen. Then I realized, "This is why I left." Nothing out there has changed at all. All the dumb things are still happening, all the new houses are still being built. The damn plovers keep coming back. The only thing that changed is that we (us all) left. Kind of mind boggling.
Anyway, Publick House beer is always better when I'm using Kim as a shield to oggle little brunettes. ( :
