Apparently it's the week of nibbled to death by car costs.
First, the excise tax...my car's not worth much, so it's not too bad.
Then, time to renew my registration. Again, not too big a cost, just annoying.
Today? Note slipped under the door...neighbor managed to knock my side mirror completely off while taking out the trash. At least he a) admitted it and b) has offered to pay for it.
But all three happening in less than seven days plus the fact that I have to dig my car out from under a foot of snow? Not a happy car owner right now. Seriously think that once this one goes, I'm going to try the carless lifestyle, or, at most just sign up for Zipcar instead of getting a new one. We'll see.
In more entertaining (though possibly limited interest to most) news, my town officials have adopted LOLcatz...or at least one of them has.
My town has a fairly thriving LJ community,
davis_square. We also have a town official, Tom Champion, who a) does all the automated voice recordings for snow emergencies (i.e. dudes, move your cars) and b) has recently joined said LJ community and started posting, answering questions, and just all around been a cool guy as far as finding different ways to keep in touch with residents.
Anyway, the most recent snow emergency, someone posted this as a joke. Fairly normal LOLcatz humor, OK, but not all that worth mentioning. What IS worth mentioning, is that Tom Champion totally adopted the whole thing now...here's his post about the snow emergency being lifted.
How can you not like a government official with that much of a sense of humor about his job?
