While arranging my Netflix queue, I started to wonder...

I figure my Flist has a high enough geek quotient that someone will know. What's the season match-up between the new Dr. Who and Torchwood (e.g. Buffy season 4 = Angel season 1) or does it not matter?

Oh...and for anybody who can answer the question (or just appreciates any of the above listed shows) you should check out the Sci-Fi Network show Eureka...tis loads of fun. First season is available on DVD.

Torchwood season 1 started between Doctor Who new seasons 2 and 3. The precise season matchup doesn't matter that much; the Doctor has a time machine, after all, and the "present day" chronology of the show is pretty hazy and inconsistent (always has been). But in the first few Torchwood episodes there are references to events in the first couple of Doctor Who seasons, and the first Christmas special that aired between them.

I don't like Torchwood that much and stopped watching early on, so there may be more I missed.

ooOOOOoo. I'm glad you updated on the beginning, because I was a bit lost. Anyway, last episode of Season 1 of Torchwood Jack zapps off to the last 3 episodes of Doctor Who Season 3. Then he's back for the first episode of Torchwood Season 2.

I have to say, Torchwood sort of had to grow on me, and I liked the end of Season one and the beginning of Season 2 much better.

Yes, that should line up fairly well. I'd watch Torchwood first.
