Sep. 11th, 2006 10:49 pmI'm going to ignore the elephant in the room as what could I possibly add?. So instead I will talk about part of my weekend.
But first...I really wasn't kidding...it's really good and I couldn't possibly add anything to the discourse that this doesn't accomplish. Go read it...it's phenomenal. Really...go! I'll wait.
OK, you're back? Wasn't that fantastic? Now I can talk about part of my weekend cause it involved meeting the author, the estimable
liz_marcs. We've chatted a bit online, I like her writing, she saved me from taking a sucky job, and other random online interactions, but we met in person for the first time on Friday and, bonus! got to see Bruce Campbell. So yeah, all in all a kick ass evening.
Met up with
liz_marcs outside the theater and we went to a local Thai place for dinner. Yummy, yummy food and killer conversation: Lj, politics, fandom, real life, science, fiction, science fiction, just all over the map conversing. Kept talking as we wandered around trying to get a glimpse of a gi-normous full (or nearly so) moon.
Then, on to the theater and Bruce! He was his usually sarcastic self.
liz_marcs actually asked the last question of the evening...as with 75% of the other questioners, she was lightly mocked, but hey...a mocking by Bruce Campbell is something to savor, no? And then Bubba Ho-Tep. Have to admit, not my favorite Bruce Campbell flick, but seeing it in a theater with a bunch of people who just got to see Bruce live makes it a much better experience than watching it home alone on your couch.
Funny story at work today. My boss had been in a hurry Friday night, running a quick errand and then coming back to the office to get her bike to head home. She's walking up the street and there's this VW parked on the sidewalk, totally blocking her way, so she starts walking out onto the street to go around it. Well, there's a guy standing by the opened car door, so as she walks past she says "Excuse me," as he's kind of blocking her way. He moves to the side a bit and as she clears him, she's suddenly faced with a whole bunch of cameras. She pulls up short and then turns around and realizes the guy in question is none other than Bruce Campbell. Apparently she went home and told her boyfriend "Guess who I asked to get out of my way tonight?" Hee!
You cheated and read this first didn't you? Darnit...go read
liz_marcs' entry! It's well worth it...I promise!
And yes, this entry is totally a "la-la-la, if I don't think about current events, they're not actually happening" defense mechanism. Your point?
