Well, I was good today and actually went through with my plans. Shrink wrap is up in all four of the living room windows plus my bathroom. We have a Christmas tree. It's pretty and decorated. I scrubbed the blinds of one of the windows (Girl Roommate had already done the other three last week). I did the dishes. And now...I hurt. Too much climbing on bar stools to get to the tops of windows and kneeling over tubs to scrub blinds and wrestling with Christmas trees. Just ow.
Of course this wasn't helped by a speedwalk across the Common and then sitting in a theater for several hours, but that was my idiotic choice to make and by golly I made it.
Boy Roommate and a friend were off to see Harry Potter. Since I've already seen it, I just hitched a ride to the theater and saw Pride and Prejudice instead.
Unsurprisingly, I spent a lot of time comparing it to the Colin Firth one (how could you not?). I definitely prefer Firth as Darcy and Ehle beats out Knightley mainly because she's a) a wee bit older and b) doesn't have that annoying mouth/teeth thing that bugs me so much when Kiera Knightley talks. But I do like Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennett. The mini-series takes more time developing the plot (because, duh! they have more time) but I think I prefer the pacing of this one a bit more. But really, you just can't beat Colin Firth when you're going for an up-tight, repressed Englishman. Can't be done.
And now, I've taken my Advil and I'm off to bed in the hopes that movement won't hurt too much in the morning. My don't I sound the crotchety old woman?

Date: 2005-11-27 04:55 pm (UTC)I've heard that Firth makes a much better Darcy and also that the mini-series has a better plot. I think I'll try and catch it this week.
