I'm an uber-happy camper cause [livejournal.com profile] eeyorekdm and I finally confirmed plans for her to come out and visit. Oh the fun times we shall have.

It's like I'm trying to cram all my summer vacation into the next two weeks (before full-time work starts). Last night was a concert. Tomorrow's a barbecue. Monday is the Boston Fourth of July Extravaganza. Next Thursday is movie with the roommates. A week from today I go home. I come back the following Thursday. Then it's [livejournal.com profile] eeyorkdm's visit and then nose to the grindstone welcome to adult life.

Speaking of adult life....our apartment is slowly looking more lived in. I have these amazing shelves that I got from a friend's boyfriend when they moved in together. I'd put off hanging them cause they really have to be drilled into the wall and I didn't want to do that on the off chance I got a job elsewhere and had to move. But, with my new job, I'm here to stay, so they went up. Then, today, somebody was moving out of the apartment next to us and were getting rid off some great framed art (an art deco piece, a Picasso knock off, a Kandinsky print, a floral print I'm not fond of, but the roommates like and, my favorite, a really large Jackson Pollock knockoff) so we did some dumpster diving and our bare white walls aren't so bare now.

My next goal is the kitchen. I want a) matching kitchen chairs (as opposed to the one wooden one that matches the table and the two metal patio table-type chairs) b) a sideboard, seeing as we have all of two and half feet of counter space and c) something to put the microwave and toaster oven on other than the two stacked steamer trunks they're currently on--at least it's not cinder blocks and plywood.

I think that's one of the best things about the job...the sense of permanence (at least for awhile) that means I can invest in the apartment. Before, every purchase had to be balanced with the thought that whatever I bought might soon have to be relocated.

And finally....Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] dwarf on his nuptials this weekend. Sorry I couldn't be there. I'm sure it was a grand time and I want to hear all about it when you get back!!!
