Aug. 11th, 2004 05:59 pmInteresting read. Let me start with this is NOT MINE... friend from another message board posted it and, although his logic is a little off on some of these, I'm going to post the whole shebang cause it raises some interesting issues. Feel free to flame, but remember a) I didn't write and b) I don't agree with 100% of it either. So here's some interesting points from
taerowyn's friend J:
So, I was watching CNN today, and they interviewed a guy from the New York Times who has spent the last three years studying Al Qaeda. What he said was that the Bush claim that 2/3 of the group leadership have been killed or captured is only partially true. Al Queda is like any other organization. If somone leaves the group, they are replaced, and the group goes on. It got me thinking about the post that listed what people don't know about Iraq, and I thought, since this is one of the biggest issues in the election, maybe we should take a look at what people don't know about terrorism. So, here goes. I may get it wrong, and if I do, go ahead and correct me.
-Most Americans can name exactly ONE terrorist.
-We don't know who the terrorist leaders ARE.
-We don't know how terrorists get their money.
-We don't know how much money the terrorists have.
-We don't know what weapons they have.
-We don't know where they are.
-We don't know how many are in the US.
-We don't know how many groups there are.
-We don't know how many terrorists there were 4 years ago.
-We don't know how many terrorists there are now.
-We don't know if there are more or less now.
-We don't know what the US is doing about it.
-We don't know what the UN is doing about it.
-We don't know what WE'RE doing about it.
-We don't know what ANYONE is doing about it.
-We don't know their priorities.
-We don't know how they train.
-We don't know where they train.
-Most Americans don't know why they want to attack the US. (Hint: It's NOT because they hate our freedom!)
-Most Americans don't know what Islam is.
-Most Americans don't know what Al Queda means.
-Most Americans don't know what Islam means.
-Most Americans don't know if the terrorists are Muslim or not.
-Most Americans have never heard a full bin-Laden tape.
-And even if they did, most Americans wouldn't understand it because they don't speak Arabic.
-Most Americans don't know how many Arabic speakers there are.
-Most Americans don't know how many muslims there are.
-Most Americans have never even SEEN a copy of the Koran.
-Most Americans don't know about the Hajj.
-Most Americans can't name even one of the September 11th hijackers.
-Most Americans can't remember the flights that were hijacked.
-Most Americans never even saw the plane that went down in Pennsylvania.
-Most Americans don't know how many people were killed in the 9/11 attacks.
-Most Americans don't know where the USS Cole was docked.
-Most Americans don't know how many people died in THAT attack.
-Most Americans don't know how many people died in the FIRST attack on the World Trade Center.
-Most Americans don't know how many people died in the attack on the US embassy in Liberia.
-Or Sudan
-Or when any of these happened.
-Most Americans don't know how many terrosit attacks there were last year.
-Most Americans don't know how many terrorist attacks there were last WEEK.
-Most Americans don't know if the number of attacks have gone up or down.
So, that being said. I don't want to hear anyone tell me ever again that Bush is winning the war on terrorism. Thanks.
