So I've been invited to a "gift exchange" and have no idea what to buy (if I even go, but that's a much longer story). If it was all people I knew I would be better off, but my friend's SO is inviting people from her work. If it was all women I could get something like bath stuff or candles or something. I'd like to avoid gift certificates, but I may be trapped. Any ideas what I could get for such a gift exchange for under $20?

I get to sleep in tomorrow!! Of course, the trade-off is I get to be stuck by a needle tomorrow. I hate needles. Really, really, really hate needles.

I need to get out of CO. It seems that since I got back I've been stuck by needles every six months or so. It's getting a little bit ridiculous.

The good news is that the doctor is pretty sure I have hypothyroidism. 'Cause finding out your sick is good, right? Kidding, I just figure it's good because it means I just take pills and voila, problem gone. The bloodwork tomorrow will determine if it's true or not. I should know by next week.

The Christmas Baking Extravaganza has begun. Tonight I made three dozen weird cookies* and two dozen rum balls and Mom made several loaves of strawberry bread. This weekend we'll do the rolled out iced cookies and the Santa Clauses** and mom wants to do chocolate covered pretzels. And people wonder why they gain weight around the holidays.

*My mom got a secret santa gift of this home-made cookie mix in a jar where you just needed to add butter, egg, and vanilla. As far as we could tell the jar had sugar, brown sugar, flour, oats, mini-m&m's, cocoa crispies and chocolate chips. The resulting cookies are a little odd, especially because they turned out to be raspberry chocolate chips. One or two is good, but that's really it. We think we'll each take some to work and share them there.

**So cute and yummy! Just round cookies with white icing and then a coconut beard, red sugar hat, red-hot nose, chocolate chip eyes, and a marshmallow for the bobble on his hat. I like the cookies with just red sugar though, they're made with orange peel and are quite tasty and I'm not a big coconut fan so...
