Aaaaaaaa... it's amazing what a trip to the ocean can do for you. I decided to drive to where I'm going to work so I wouldn't have the stress of both looking for the route and fighting the morning traffic on my first day tomorrow. The area is gorgeous (Scituate for you MA folks). Actually reminds me a lot of where I did my undergrad so I feel right at home. Driving plus beach time has definitely mellowed my mood nicely.

A bit off the topic question, if you don't mind. Do you know the history or any further information about this statue that is in your pic for this specific post (the crouching monk/monkey covering the face)? I found it last year and bought it, a wooden carving which looks the way the statue in your picture looks. The expression and posture intrigue me, but I know nothing further about it. If you know, then please let me know.

It's called a weeping Buddha. You can find info under that name. I don't know too much about it myself.

Out of curiosity, how come you haven't mentioned any Famous Research Vessels associated with the place you are working this summer? Cuz it's rather cool in my humble opinion.

Though I can understand making a safe zone if you want to bitch about your job and not have people know where you work.
