Got in a discussion about Joe Millionare. The show really confuses me. I mean what are the options?

1. She falls for him cause of the money, finds there is no money and dumps his broke ass

2. She falls for him cause of him, finds he's been lying to her for weeks and dumps his untrustworthy ass

Really, the only way she'd stick around was if it was purely a physical relationship. Or am I missing something.

On the one hand the whole concept is just appalling. The stupidity of The Bachelor with a sadistic twist. But, as with The Bachelor, I find it hard being sympathetic towards women who go on national television to "find love."

or maybe she wont dump him

maybe she'll fall for him, be pissed but understand why he did it, and stay in love

I guess. I just think it'd be hard to stick with a relationship with such a rocky foundation. I mean he'd have been lying to her from the very beginning, how is she supposed to trust him again?

I think they're hoping for a Hollywood Ending where she storms off in disgust at being lied too then he chases her through an airport and pours out his love to her in front of dozens of complete strangers...then she maces him and kicks him in the nuts.

Oh, wait, that's now how it works in Hollywood. But I'd still like to see it

This (http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Entertainment/ap20030108_1192.html) is what disturbs me the most. People are actually watching this shit, myself included!

See, at least I don't watch it. Of course, since almost everybody in my office does I hear about it anyway.

I assume the appeal is just the schadenfreude of it all?

i'm glad that i'm not alone in absolutely avoiding ever seeing a single retarded episode of that steaming pile of show. i don't even get the joke. i don't WANT to get the joke. there is nothing that makes my love of mankind greater in simply knowing that the show exists, much less that so many people are actually watching it. CRAP! I TELL YOU! CRAP!

true, maybe when she sees the show she'll see it differently

either way, i think the girls are pretty ridiculous if they have to go on some show to find love. they must be prety desparate to go on a show with the expectation of getting married at the end of a month-long stay.

You're forgetting that, although this is called a "reality show", it ain't a real relationship. What kind of a foundation can a relationship have if it's live on TV? What kind of luser gimps would accept to be on the show? Look at the track record of other such relationships. It's doomed from the start. The best thing to do is shoot everyone involved in any way.

Exactly, which is why I the whole concept of the show confuses. Not half as much as the people who watch it though. That just seems beyond any possible comprehension.

I won't watch the show, but I think it's funny. In a way I think it almost serves them right. I mean they are thinking they are on this show to compete to get this guy's money. I really don't think any of them are looking for love, I think they are looking for the money and some fame and TV time. If any of them do "really" fall in love in the short time that they are there then it would be sad that she was lied to all this time, but... I don't know - I still want to know when they are going to have a show with one woman where all these good looking guys try to compete for her affections.
