Since I'm in this veg out-unproductive state, anybody want to recommend some good books? I have a bunch that I have yet to read (buying to reading ratio being about 5:1), but they're mostly tried and true authors/subjects. Give me something new. Please?

See, that would fall under "productive" because I have a purpose in reading it.

I have started though. You should probably get the rundown by Monday if not sooner.

Well, I have many you could borrow. Do you want funny or serious?

Also, I'll be working this Thursday during the day, so sad to say that that cancels lunch plans.

No worries.

So... do you want funny reading material or serious?

Anything by Spider Robinson. Especially the 'Callahans' series. He's one of the rare authors that makes me sad in a way because I have read most of his work.

Concurrently, you can't go wrong with Terry Pratchett.

Terry Pratchett definitely falls under the "tried and true." I own all the novels except for Night Watch and a few of the extra books as well.

Anything by Steven Brust. If you want funny, start with "The Phoenix Guards"; if you want exciting, start with "Jhereg"; if you want a makes-you-think book, start with "The Sun, The Moon, and the Stars".

In the graphic novel realm, pick up "Transmetropolitan" and "100 Bullets" for grisly
urban tales.
