Oct. 3rd, 2002 09:36 amI've been thinking, in this age of instant communication, emails, cell phones, text messaging etc. there's still something about writing a letter. There's a line from a TV series that always sticks in my head "She belongs in the age when letter-writing was still an art form."
OK, so my letters aren't exactly art, but I still like writing them. Thankfully, I have at least one friend (yeah
eeyorekdm) who agrees with me and corresponds with me with letters. So even though we keep in touch through phone and email and LJ, there's still some things we save for letters. There's just something about opening the mailbox and holding the letter in your hand. The handwriting (crappy on my part), the scribbles, the stationary...I don't know, it just makes things more real for me. I think it's along the same lines of how I feel about film vs digital in photography.
