taerowynI forgot that one of the major aspects of moving back to FTC would be being sucked into the soap operas of my group of friends. I"m not saying that my NY friends and I didn't have our dramas, but somehow they're so much more dramatic and ALL-ENCOMPASSING here. Take tonight for instance...should be a cool Saturday night out on the town, but oops, we have over 5 people in the group which equals, ta da, instant drama, just add alcohol. So someone's significant other supposedly is flirting with someone else "all night" and someone is ignoring someone else and someone stiffs everybody on the bill and someone walks off in a rage causing people to get out of line for the margarita whore bar they want to go to and then THEY get pissed off because they were one away from getting through the door...and on and on and on. ARGH!!
Of course, I spend the night counseling the two members of the couple telling one that his imagination is running rampant and 90% of his anger is alcohol fueled and he needs to calm down and I'm telling her that things said or not said tonight don't count and she should wait for tomorrow because he can't handle alcohol and anger management at the same time. Is there anything worse (and this is a rhetorical question, I"m really not looking for any smart alec replies here) than helping to bring two people together or back together when a little part of you wants one of them for yourself. Cause that part gets disappointed and the rest of you gets ashamed for those feelings and just yech!
I miss my beach. After a night like this I would have taken a 2 minute drive and been at my beach where everything could be washed away. Instead I had to drive for ten minutes to get up in the mountains and mountains at night aren't quite the same thing as a beach at night. I miss my beach. Sigh
