Aug. 12th, 2002 07:36 amWell, I've officially figured out how I'm going to die. I'm going to be found starving, surrounded by books. OK, maybe not, but it wouldn't suprise me. I've found that I can be financially responsible in almost every way except when it comes to buying books.
When I was in PEI I bought volume 1 of L.M. Montgomery's journals. The following Christmas my parents were able to get me volumes 3 and 4, but I haven't read them yet because I wanted volume 2 first. I couldn't find it, for over two years I looked. Finally, on Friday, I called the place in Canada that I had bought volume 1 and said I needed volume 2. They gave me the phone number and the website of their supplier. I made the mistake of going to the website. Instead of placing a phone call and saying I need this one book I got online and went "I don't have this and I don't have this and I don't have this." Thirteen books later... Well, at least they were Canadian prices so I spent about $3-$4 per book on most of them, but still.
So you think I'd have enough of book buying for the day, but no, mom wanted to go to B&N that evening and wanted someone to go with her so I went and got four more books. In my defense, one was a replacement of one of my favorite books that I had loaned out and will never see again as I haven't heard from that person in over a year and have no idea where she is. And another was one that I've been waiting to come out on paperback (
mezdeathhead it's got an extra section about the book tour if you want to read it). But still, I spent 30% of my monthly spending cash in one day and all on books. I think I have a problem.
