So...watched Act III of Dr. Horrible and....meh. I know Joss likes to be the guy who lets you to laugh along with him right up until the point he (and everybody else) stops laughing...but...meh.

With this whole Dr. Horrible thing, much as I enjoyed the silliness factor (and Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are both brilliant at the silly), what most intrigued me was the business model part of it. Dare I use the phrase paradigm shift (nah...probably should avoid that) re: trying to do this kind of entertainment outside of the studio system.

But if that's really, really Joss's goal, methinks he should have stretched a little beyond his normal "fuck with the audience" standards. I mean yes, the cult of Whedon will "get it" (or at least say they do and praise it as genius cause frankly in their minds the man could decide to create the next "Deal or No Deal" or some such and they'd think it's genius). But for this to really be a successful business model, it's going to need to have reach beyond his normal, stand-by-their-man following and I don't know as this will do it. Act I and II...they would have done it. Act III....not so much.
