Aug. 17th, 2007 10:21 pmYou know how if you have an email at one of the big service providers...hotmail, gmail, etc., there's often someone with a username that's only a letter off from yours, so that if someone mis-types, you receive their personal email? I've had it happen a time or two before, but today was possibly the most personal of personal emails.
Apparently, there's somebody whose email address is identical to mine with the addition of a y, and she and her husband are swingers.
How do I know this? Well, I just received an email from a prospective couple that is interested in meeting up with them in the near future.
Yes, it could have been sneaky spam, but if I google the husband's username (used in the email because apparently the female half of the prospective couple finds him hot), then there is a personal ad that includes the wife's username...my username with that additional y.
I emailed back to say the email had been misdirected...how mortifying does it have to be to receive that email?!
Moral of the story...when sending extremely personal emails, doublecheck the recipient's email address. There are some things you don't want strangers knowing about you (nor do the strangers want to know).
