Apr. 15th, 2007 10:28 amTrying to navigate the wilds of selling things on CraigsList and am often amazed how cheap people are. List something for half the original cost and they have no qualms writing and asking you to halve that price again. Um...no. I'm not giving this stuff away for free, and frankly, the sales are going to help me buy new furniture, so bite me.
OK, it's not that bad, and yes, I am willing to negotiate, but I'm also not willing to be walked all over. Especially by someone who says "I see lots of them on Craigslist already in that [ridiculously discounted] range..." You do realize that I too have access to Craigslist and I did a price comparison, right? There's only one listed in the range you're talking about and it's not only older, but it's a cheaper (i.e. more flimsy) model so have at if that's what you want to buy.
For now, I'm sticking with my prices with about a $25 negotiation room. WE'll see where things stand in a week.
I am desperate to get the apartment finished, but Roommate Classic just bought a new bed, so she still has to sell hers and get it out of here. Plus, I still need to buy a loveseat for our living room, so I'm not at the point where I'll take a huge pricecut for the sole benefit of getting it out the door...yet.
On the up side, I had fun decorating my room yesterday:

My mom will be so proud of the fact that I actually have *gasp* pink in my decorating. Meh...I love black and white and red and this is all black and white and shades of red (with some brown thrown in). It's not my fault if pink is basically a lighter shade of red.
Now I have to figure out if I too can get a new bed. I'm loath to get rid of mine as it's got tons and tons (and tons) of under bed storage. It's an old daybed that used to have a trundle bed underneath it and I fill that space with all sorts of shoes and craft goodies. However, when I say it's an old daybed, I mean it's my old daybed that I got around, oh, age twelve. I can't believe I still have a twin. Ridiculous! Roommate Classic just made the upgrade to what we jokingly call "a big girl bed" as well. She got a platform bed and if I do this, I'll do the same. The other thing I like about my current bed is the lack of boxspring. We'll just see if I can stretch my budget over a new loveseat AND a new bed.

Date: 2007-04-15 03:57 pm (UTC)I wish I could fit more things under my bed. It's very close to the ground. So I see why you would want to keep yours.
