Apr. 3rd, 2007 09:48 pmI'm moved in. I'm not unpacked, but I'm moved in.
There were good points (movers moving everything by 11:45 a.m.) and bad points (movers only having access to two rooms in the new place--neither of which were my bedroom--due to the still-not-completed kitchen renovation), but the best point is that the bulk of it is done. The kitchen should be finished before the weekend which means the rest of the packing can occur soon. I can't wait for a life without boxes.
The new place is definitely smaller so I have to purge some stuff. In the long run it'll be good, I just need to work on overcoming my genetic packrat tendencies.
Already loving the new neighborhood. Fell asleep the first night to sounds of grandkids saying goodbye to their grandparents as opposed to partying undergrads. I can walk five minutes to a great, active, social area. Apparently 3 out of 4 of the downstairs neghbors have been met by Roommate Classic and according to her, they're all hot. These are all good things.
Non-move related, I'm off to DC tomorrow. Working from our DC office on Weds and then at a conference Thurs-Fri. I'm a little nervous as this is my first time flying solo as a representative of the organization, so we'll see how that goes.
Then, back to the land of boxes and hopefully so productive unpacking.
Oh...and Roomate Classic is a genius. Twas her idea to get full body massages last night. I think it's my new move tradition: hire movers and get a massage. It makes all the other concerns seem so much easier to handle.
