I'm safely back in Boston with my luggage now. Despite all the travel problems, I had a great trip home.
Christmas Eve wasn't spolied by the snow...we still had yummy Youngs with family and friends and then laughed over games. Apparently I've managed to get my entire family hooked on Apples to Apples and they are working to spread the addiction. Got to hang out a bit with [livejournal.com profile] scwha242 and [livejournal.com profile] mezdeathhead that evening and they spent the night and Christmas morning.

Christmas was great. All sorts of goodies including clothes, movies, jewelry, a tripod and other swell things. My mom continued what looks to be a new family tradtion of buying a whole bunch of Kinder Egg toys for us "kids" to assemble and play with. Too fun!

Met the CO crowd for drinks one night and had lunch at Youngs (can never get enough) with a friend another day, but the rest of the time was spent hanging out at the house with the folks with brief shopping forays and lots and lots of movie watching. It was great. I read a whole book in a day, learned to crochet and just relaxed in general. Good times!

I was supposed to fly out Saturday, but with the second storm moving in, on Thursday I called and switched my flight to Sunday. Good thing too, cause my Sat. flight was eventually cancelled. The Sunday flight was at 6 AM which menat leaving the house at 3:15--less than pleasant. Then it looked like I was on standby and I think I actually was the last passenger to get a seat on my flight...at least I did get out. Got to Boston sans luggage, but no big deal since they delivered it this morning.

I think I finally figured out the secret to a good New Year's Eve though...don't treat it any different than any other night out on the town (other than about 5 minutes around midnight). Really takes the pressure off and lets you have a nice time. Roommate Classic, Visiting Roommate and I got together at Visiting Roommate's place to primp then went for dinner at a bar in Kenmore that a friend of theirs manages. They do hot pretzels with this amazing mustard, made in house, that I could eat by the jarful if given the chance. Then we went to Mission Hill around 11:00 or so to meet a friend of Visiting Roommate's and rang in the New Year with his crowd. Nothing spectacular, but good, laidback fun.

I've done very little today except sleep and futz on the computer. I need to go grocery shoppig, unpack/clean and prepare to reenter the real world as of tomorrow. At least I have a few hours of vacation left...
