1) Who was your first crush? (Celebrity or average)
Hmmmmm....Christopher Reeve maybe? I loved me some Superman

2) Who do you currently have a crush on now?
Sadly, nobody...or possibly that's a good thing since crushes are usually about the unrequited...

3) Have you ever become so obsessed with a crush, you went to extreme measures to find out everything about him/her?
No...though I do like looking up past crushes through the power of google, does that count?

4) Has your crush ever turned out to be your future girlfriend/boyfriend?
Yes...about a week after giving me the "I'm flattered, but you're like a sister to me" speech. You can bet I gave him a lot of crap for that one.

5) Did a best friend ever turn into more than just a friend?
Nope... though there's a conversation or two that I run through my mind and think "Doh!" and wonder "what if..."

I had a big problem with stupid crushes from about the ages of 15 to 25, some of them involving intrusive and obsessive thoughts, a lot of limerence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limerence) there. I think that for me the crushes were strongly tied to being alone and ashamed of it--in hindsight, the crush-object was almost arbitrary; they were always smart, attractive women who seemed to like me, but I'd see them mostly as opportunities to transform myself into something better than a loser.

And when I met samantha2074 I was a bit baffled that I had somehow fallen in love without it ever being a dreadful obsessive thing. It was a very new feeling; I sometimes felt as if it wasn't supposed to be that easy.

...One way in which I think I disagree with Tennov is that I don't think there's a sharp distinction between what she calls limerence and some of the shorter-lived, less intense crushes. I had two of the really bad, multi-year ones and a lot of shorter-lived ones, some only lasting for days, and they strike me as points on the same continuum; the feelings were different in intensity and duration but similar in type.

DUDE. Chris Reeve was totally my first crush too! I think this really explains everything, don't you?

I even found myself watching the weirdo catholic-mob movie he was in right after Superman II because he was just too hot in it. Not the greatest movie, but a fine sinful priest all the same.

There are totally some conversations where I wish I could reach back and smack younger me upside the head in the hopes that she'd get a clue as to what was really being said.

Sadly, I think I can still be quite oblivious to people making a pass at me until much later (and usually too late).

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I haven't seen that one yet. I KNOW, I KNOW. I hear it is full of hawtness. It's on my list now for sure, though.
