You know what sucks?
Jul. 3rd, 2006 06:10 amSo, I got up bright and early this morning. Ok, that's a lie. The whole point was to get up and out for the pre-dawn/dawn light. So...I got up dark and early this morning to take some pictures in the light of sunrise. My chosen spot? On the way to this old mill about a month ago, my friends and I passed this complex of deserted greenhouses where trees had grown up through the roof and walls of each building, breaking the glass. It gave this sense of breaking free and nature refusing to be tamed. Very cool looking. Words aren't doing it justice...hence why I wanted pictures. We didn't get the chance to stop, so I've been meaning to get back and take a few shots.
Anyway, got up early. Was driving along in a fairly good mood, thinking about how, although I'm in many ways a night owl, it wouldn't take too much to make me an early bird. When I actually CAN get up early, I really enjoy it. The quiet, the sense of solitude, the calmness before the storm of a busy day, the light, the sunrise, the birds, etc.
So...driving along and I pass what could be the spot, but think to myself "nah...that can't be it." But then I drive a bit further and hit the turn off for the mill. Obvioulsy, the greenhouses were between the highway and the mill, so I turn around and head back to see if I missed them. Nope, I hadn't. That place that I thought "can't be it," was indeed the site of the greenhouses--except they'd been bulldozed flat.
Sigh.
