Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] spankerella... Here's how it plays... There are 12 movie quotes from 12 different flicks. See if you can guess them. First come, first served. The ones in bold are still un-guessed, but checking the comments to make sure someone hasn't beat you to it isn't a bad idea either.

Well, it's been over 24 hours so I thought I'd add some hints...

1. "She's heading an expedition to China shortly. I'm to go as her servant. But only on the understanding that I am to be very badly treated." -Hugh Grant

2. "Too many guys think I'm a concept or I complete them or I'm going to make them alive, but I'm just a fucked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind. Don't assign me yours."

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - I figured [livejournal.com profile] scwha242 would get it, if nobody beat him to it since he loves th movie as much as I do.

3. "Um... I realize this is a very, repressed British thing to say, but what the hell are you doing?" -Gwyneth Paltrow

4. "Look at it this way. Considering the type of people you are and the environment you're in, this may be the only chance you ever have in your entire lives to have sex."

Real Genius - Kinda hoped someone would get this one right off the bat and [livejournal.com profile] flummox did.

5.
"Hello, David. I mean sir. Shit, I can't believe I've just said that. Oh and now I've gone and said 'shit' - twice. I'm so sorry, sir."
"It's fine, it's fine. You could've said "fuck", and then we'd have been in real trouble."
"Thank you, sir. I did have an awful premonition that I was going to fuck up the first day. Oh piss-it!"

Love Actually - [livejournal.com profile] flummox got it after being told that the second speaker was Hugh Grant.

6. "Oh yes, I'm so very Mary Tyler Moore, everyone says so." -Janeane Garofalo

7. "Lately, your low self-esteem is just good common sense." -Cloris Leechman

8. "Now, the most important thing is, we have to work as a team, which means: you do everything I tell you."

Chicken Run - [livejournal.com profile] skunk237 got it after being told that Mel Gibson said it. I never said that you see Mel Gibson say it, just a rooster with his voice.

9. "Death is a primitive concept; I prefer to think of them as battling evil - in another dimension!"

The Last Starfighter - I was going to be very disappointed in [livejournal.com profile] schwa242 if he didn't get this one.

10. "Once again you've put your keen and penetrating mind to the task and as usual come to the wrong conclusion."

Harry Potter and the Prisoner Azkaban - [livejournal.com profile] tess1499 got it knowing that it was Gary Oldman doing the talking.

11. "General, you are listening to a machine. Do the world a favor and don't act like one."

War Games - Score #2 for [livejournal.com profile] flummox

12. "Would you do it with someone whose last name is the worst day of the week?"

Dream for an Insomniac - [livejournal.com profile] schwa242 only got this cause I told him it was Ione Skye and he knows this is one of my favorite movies.

I do indeed love it, and yet, I've only seen it once.

The Last Starfighter - I was going to be very disappointed in [info]schwa242 if he didn't get this one.

Was there ever any doubt? Hope I didn't miss any other ones that I'm supposed to get.

You better get #1 on mine.

As am I... #12 is tricky mainly because Say Anything is pretty much the only movie people think of her being in.

Nope. In Sky Captain she was a brassy American reporter... no repressed British-ness there.

The hell I do. I've also seen her in "Four Rooms", "Gas Food Lodging" (with Fairuza Balk... hubba hubba), and that one you like, "Dream for an Insomniac", which five bucks and a Wizard of Oz-like color transition says that's what the quote is from.

And no, I did not cheat and look up what films she was in. But I did have to sit and think real hard to remember the title "Dream for an Insomniac", which I confuse with the title, "Requeim for a Dream", which is a film with a slightly different tone.

And I also get the title confused with, "Dream with the Fishes", as well as, "Dream a Little Dream", a film that stars both Coreys that Mez seems to like but I've never seen. I have never confused them with "Akira Kurosawa's Dreams", but that could be because I have the title wrong.

And that's nothing to say of songs by the Cranberries, Eurythmics, Forest for the Trees, Moodie Blues, the Reverend Horton Heat, the Legendary Pink Dots, the Damned, Depeche Mode, King Missile, Love and Rockets, Weezer, the Pixies, Blondie, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, who all write songs with the word "Dream" in the title that I like. I SMELL COMPILATION DISC!!!!11!1
