Sep. 1st, 2004 08:10 pmAll done with my internship! Well, all done with driving in for my internship. Still have one more story to do, but since it's the first science (vs PR) story of the summer, I'm actually psyched about it. Plus, it's got some mainstream press appeal so I may be able to freelance it.
------------
Getting excited for Saturday...Going to my first con. Despite
schwa242's advice, I will be going alone. I'm all psyched about seeing Gaiman and Pratchett, but there's also a bunch of science panels I'm interested to see. Possibly story ideas? We'll see.
Was psyched to see that Pratchett is doing a signing at the Public Library the following Tuesday which means if I really feel the need for a signature, I don't have to waste con time while I wait in line. Plus, Stu can go since he's not willing to shell out the bucks even though I did get him totally hooked on Discworld. I'm evil when it comes to sharing my addictions. Good thing none of them involve illegal substances.
-------------
Thought I had escaped the joys of moving by not, you know, moving, but ended up helping Classroommate move in and gave Stu a hand (3 story walk-up!!!!). The funniest instance was when Ryan and I were unloading the trunk of my car while Stu was schlepping up the stairs. I was parked in this little alley in the North End (Boston's little Itlay for those non-Bostonians reading).
Anyway, trunk's open and Ryan and I are leaning in grabbing stuff when BAM!! it sounds like somebody threw a rock on the roof of my car. I'm looking around looking totally puzzled when Ryan (who is taller and hence able to see over the edge of the trunk lid) goes "Ewwwwww!" Apparently all the pigeons on the eaves of the buildings next to the alley decided to take exception to my parking. I swear, five or six huge splotches of bird crap all over my license plate and the edge of my trunk. Some had even splattered onto Ryan's sunglasses. I'd escaped - the joys of being short. It was just too funny. And it happened a couple times after that too. I made a very necessary stop at a car wash on my way home. My car was a mess.
--------------
All the moving has got me in a cleaning mood so I've been working on cleaning out my closet. I've only lived here for a year but I've already accumulated so much crap. It's like goldfish... expanding to fit the available space. I'm doing pretty good at tossing things out though. Trying to trim down a bit seeing as, come December, I may be moving too.
