So I get on Amazon this afternoon and instead of the usual "page you made" recommendations list I get this:

Kathryn's Plog Beta (What is a Plog?)

I follow the "What is a Plog" link and voila:

What is a Plog?

The Plog™ Service provides a personalized blog for each Amazon.com customer. A blog is a straightforward and now widely adopted method of posting a reverse chronological diary on the Internet. Here's a list of some of the best and most popular blogs:

[List deleted cause it isn't the point and it takes up space]

Your Amazon.com Plog is a diary of events that will enhance your shopping experience, helping you discover products that have just been released, track changes to your orders, and many other things. Just like a blog, your Plog is sorted in reverse chronological order. When we think we have something interesting or important to tell you, we'll post it to your Plog.

Yes, i complained bitterly (http://ronebofh.livejournal.com/201139.html) about it. The idea itself is just kinda dumb, but the fact that they shove it up front and center, with no way to deactivate or relocate it, is retarded.

I hadn't been onto Amazon in awhile so it came as a nasty suprise. Just the ability to turn it off would appease me, but no, they just get to cram their stupidity down our throats.
