Doug and Jess came down to visit yesterday. They're all swamped with wedding plans. It's kind of cool cause I've witnessed the entire progression of their relationship. Doug complaining to me about this great girl who kept turning him down, sharing a house with them the first time they lived together, helping Doug set up the proposal etc. We reminisced a bit. It was nice.

Kind of got me wondering how all you people who have a somebody met that person. Class, club, coffeeshop, anything not beginning with the letter c? So spill...reminisce a bit.

Pete and I met through mutual friends (you may rememebr them : Jason, James R, Aaron, and other assorted BH people). We were all supposed to go out for coffee one night in Old Town, and I asked Pete for a ride because I lived out in the sticks (Horsetooth and Timerline). He picked me up and we drove over to IHOP on College.

No one else ever showed up that night, but we had a great time talking and laughing and generally just being dumb high school kids. He gave me a ride home and for some reason I kissed him. But at that moment, I KNEW ... I KNEW ... I was going to marry this guy. I didn't know how or when or why, but it was like a light switch went off in my head. Literally.

It was the single craziest moment of my life.

Couple years later we did get married (we already had a dog at this point), had a couple kids, graduated college, moved to Denver, bought a house, had another kid, and are now sitting back. We've done a lot really quickly, so now it's time to just relax and enjoy. :)

You already know everything so I won't ramble on here about it. :oP Althogh I have to say... based on the rules you and Jamie set at Spring Fest a few years back... if this one is it then you're out of the running for Maid of Honor (j/k)

I'm fine with that...you have known her longest and all. Course you have to think, which one of us would throw the bachelorette party that YOU would enjoy the most. Yeah, I know, I'm evil.

Um, well, Jon and I met in high school. He was a transfer student from some farm town out west of Des Moines. It was his first day at the new huge inner city school of Valley High (and yes, that is really the name of our school,) and he is standing in the center of the courtyard looking lost. I walk over to him, he is dressed in jeans and a sweater, I am dressed in black head to toe with dyed blonde hair. I bounce next to him and ask if he is new here and can I help him. It was wild. We dated on and off through high school.

A year after high school we moved to Greeley, Colorado together. We both moved back to Iowa. Then I moved to Fort Collins and stayed. We were friends thoughout most of those years even when we werent dating/sleeping together.

So I move back to Iowa to go to school and take care of my dad, not to mention a few other reasons that still cause me to have blackout periods, and I see Jon again. All our friends gave us a hard time about hooking up again and how typical that was of our behavior when we were younger - "Be with Jon when not dating others."

Eventually Jon and I did hook up again, and I do claim the responsibility of that first time here in Iowa as I plied him with red wine, vodka, and blackjack. About 11 months after I moved back to Iowa, we moved in together. We lived together for three more years and then we got married.

Moral of the story: Timing is the key.

I got lucky and married one of my best friends.

At our college radio station. I guess "c" stands for "college" in this case.

Speech class. A sorostitute was giving a "problem speech" on dating. I was trying so hard not to laugh I was shaking. He was sitting right behind me. He finally laughed out loud in the middle of her presentation ... pointed a finger at ME ... and said, gasping, "It's HER fault!"

We've been together three years.

That's all I get? Sheesh, I was picturing cheesy shared milkshakes with two straws considering how nauseatingly cute you guys were at first. Besides, wasn't there something about the Krusty tatoo?
