So, my work schedule has changed such that I'm working Tuesday morning from home. I'm a happy girl. There was just no other way I was going to get any research/writing done. Something was always coming up in the office. Too many distractions.

Of course, even at home my coworker still called to bug me about something. Not like I was going to be in in the afternoon or anything. Not like the problem was something that could very easily wait or anything. Grrrrrr! The best way to describe this problem is to explain what happened over Christmas. I was on vacation, it just happened that my vacation was spent at home. So this coworker calls one morning, thankfully when I wasn't in, and my mom tells her so. Her reply? "Oh, that's ok, I'll just look it up." Argh! She always calls me before trying to figure it out for herself. Doesn't matter if I'm on vacation, sick, doing work, whatever, it's always call first, figure it out on her own second.

Anyway, interrupting phone calls aside, it was great. Must be a holdover from college, but I always work best, whether researching or writing, in my pajamas, on my bed, with my work spread all around me. Desks just aren't my thing I guess. Then, to make the college picture complete, I stopped at Gibs on my way to work and got what used to be my "usual" from The Galley. Mmmmmmmm, bagely goodness.

I can kind of understand the mentality of people who call someone "in the know" first before looking something up, because that is the quicker solution in the short run. However, in the long run, if you want to be capable at your job, its best to take the extra time to look things up on your own so that you can actually learn something.

And not bother people at home ;)

My favorite was when she told me I had to leave a number where I could be reached in Boston. Um...no. Unless they're willing to pay outrageous consultation fees, of course.

i know you hate to be bothered at home, so i thought i'd ask you here...could you find out what the zip code is for Lvov, Ukraine? no hurry.

(and yes, that's my half-assed attempt at being funny)

Ahh working in PJs - nothing better in the world. One of the perks of my job, I basically work in PJs - although I would NEVER jump right into bed in my work clothes.
