Going solo

Went to the Lodo Music Festival. I was told that the gates closed at 5 which meant I had to hang around for 4 hours to wait for Cowboy Mouth to play. Turned out I could have gotten there anytime, but since the web said they played at 9:45 and they actually started at 8:15 it worked out ok. I'd have been pissed if I showed up just to catch the end of their show.

I got a strange reaction from a friend when I told her I was going to the concert alone. She was just so shocked and impressed. Why is it so out of the ordinary to do things alone? I go to movies alone, eat alone and yes, go to concerts alone. I do enjoy company, but if nobody can make it I'm not going to deprive myself of the entertainment just because I'll be *shudder* alone. Why do people find that so hard to do?

Mmmmmmmmm, music is good. I have one mix that can unwind me no matter how crappy the day (not that I had the need for it today or am listening to it now or anything). It starts out all nice and soothing to get me to unwind and then slowly builds up more and more energy ending, of course, with Cowboy Mouth's Jenny Says. So if I just need to relax I can listen to the first half, but if I want to get in a bounce off the walls good mood I can go through the whole thing. Yes, music is good.

Speaking of Cowboy Mouth, they will be in Denver on Saturday playing at the LoDo Music Festival so you KNOW I will be there. Trying to decide if I'm willing to drive down on Friday too cause They Might Be Giants will be there as well. Decisions, decisions...

AHHHHHHHHHHHH....Color me so very content. Just got back from a Cowboy Mouth concert. The experience really is indescribable. I mean, the Cds are good, as it is good music (funny how that works) but they in no way relay what a concert is like. It's almost a religious experience. No matter what you go in there feeling like, if your dad had been to the hospital recently, your favorite coworker fired, your boss discussing further cutbacks and layoffs, what-have-you, you can go into a Cowboy Mouth concert and come out content and glad to be alive. I just feel so purged and at peace. It's amazing that a rock concert can do that, but they're an amazing kind of band. Rumor has it that they will be back in Denver in May. I invite all my fellow LJers who are in the area to join me there and see if I am not telling the truth. Either way, you'll have a good time.
